Energy Storage Team and Student Energy Club Receive Campus Awards

NC State’s Sustainability Awards were recently announced during the Celebration of NC State Sustainability.

The NC State Energy Storage Team was the recipient of this year’s NC State’s Sustainability Innovation/Impact award. The departments of agricultural and resource economics, public administration, electrical engineering, civil engineering, and NC Clean Technology Center were part of the project team. The aim of the completed report is to guide the NC General Assembly as it develops storage-related energy policies for the state. The team was a collaboration between NC State, NC Central University, and NC Policy Collaboratory. Read more about the award and the project participants here.

Also receiving good news was NC State’s new Student Energy Club, which received funding for their club from NC State’s Sustainability Fund. The award funds will support “activities that the club will organize over the next academic year to address the critical challenge of integrating NC State’s energy community across campus,” stated club president Aditya Keskar. The award includes funding for the following events to take place in the 2019-2020 academic year.

  • Energy Seminar series
  • A panel discussion — “Women in Energy”
  • Mentorship program for undergraduate/prospective students interested in energy research
  • Development of a website for the club

Congrats to all of you!
