2023 Energy and Water Annual Report Released
NC State’s 2023 Energy and Water Annual Report is now online, showcasing the university’s continued leadership in energy efficiency, renewable energy technology and reduction in natural resource consumption.
The report provides an update on NC State’s progress toward utility reductions and outlines future strategies that will help reach the university’s strategic energy and water goals.
Highlights include a 35% decrease in total campus energy consumption per square foot compared to the FY 2003 baseline. This reduction occurred despite campus growth increasing by 54% in gross square footage compared to the same baseline.
Water conservation efforts also remain strong, with a total consumption reduction of 55% compared to the FY 2002 baseline, including a 61% decrease in potable water use.
